Conveniently located in Minnesota near Le Sueur, Le Center, New Prague, Jordan, Belle Plaine, Lonsdale, and Montgomery, just south of the Twin Cities, Pins and Springs Gunsmithing offers all the services needed to overcome the normal wear and tear of your firearm.
Owned and operated by Kristjan Theus, Pins and Springs was born from a lifelong interest in precision firearms and increasing accessibility to good care.
It’s a nexus point of multiple disciplines: Engineering, machining, metallurgy, woodworking, and chemistry, to name a few.
I served in the USAF for 6 years. They taught me next to nothing about firearms. I took matters into my own hands, and the hobby I adopted (partially out of spite) has grown into what I’d love to do full-time for other folks.

I was born and raised in Maryland to a military family, and I followed in their footsteps.
During my military career in the Air Force, I spent years troubleshooting and fixing temperamental machines and buggy software (also known as IT).
I’ve brought this methodology to gunsmithing, using the analytical mindset I’ve developed to isolate mechanical malfunctions.
I spent 10 years curating my own firearms. There’s an old joke about how picking up a dremel tool is all the qualification needed to be a gunsmith. (It’s not true, there’s quite a lot of machining experience that’s necessary.) Regardless, that was me for a full decade; I just didn’t know it was a joke.
With the support of my wife, I invested my GI Bill into formal training through Sonoran Desert Institute (SDI) and earned my A.S. in Firearms Technology (magna cum laude).
It’s a great pleasure to work with a variety of firearms, whether a historic piece or a modern marvel.

Have an emergency? I’m conveniently located near several hunting preserves and shooting ranges, so you shouldn’t have to wait to take care of your problem. Get in touch, come over, and let’s get you back out there.
